Membrane filtration

Laboratory Manifold
When filtering water, beverages and other liquids, residual amounts of sample can become trapped in non-accessible areas of the filtration equipment, leading to the formation of a biofilm. Biofilms are aggregates of microorganisms protected by an extracellular matrix. Once formed, they are very difficult to eliminate and can eventually cause false positive results by contaminating the test. With the EZ-Fit® Manifold, biofilm formation can be prevented because every single component can be removed for easy cleaning and autoclaving. All internal areas are accessible and can be brushed and cleaned efficiently. Filtration heads, valves and tubing connections are all easily removable. The design of the 2-way valve prevents the user accidentally touching the filtration head while opening or closing the valve.

Single Use Filtration

EZ-Fit® pink units come with a wide range of membranes from 0.22 to 0.8 μm for maximum versatility to suit all applications. The new patented drain design speeds up processing of turbid and hard-to-filter matrices.

EZ-Fit® blue units give you extra flexibility: after filtration, either transfer the membrane to an agar plate or add liquid media and convert the device into a Petri dish.

Both the blue and pink EZ-Fit® Filtration Units are available in different variants to suit your application:

  • 100 mL or 250 mL funnels
  • Black or white, gridded or plain membranes, made of mixed cellulose esters or PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride)
  • Bagged individually, in multipacks of 4 units (pink version only) or packaged in bulk (with or without protective bag)

Vacuum Pump

The laboratory filtration pump that transfers filtered liquid directly to waste

The EZ-Stream® vacuum filtration pump is specifically designed for microbiology analysis. The compact design (w × l × h = 20 × 17 × 22 cm) makes the pump ideal for use on both the work bench or in a laminar flow hood, where its small footprint saves precious laboratory space.

The pump transfers your filtered sample directly to waste. Simply connect the pump to your vacuum manifold or filtration apparatus and place the discard tubing to drain and you are ready to filter. There is no need to use additional containers to capture the waste liquid. This brings a significant time saving versus traditional vacuum and pressure pumps or in-house vacuum, because the following steps are eliminated: disconnecting the waste containers, emptying liquid waste, cleaning/decontamination, re-installing the waste

Vacuum filtration pump benefits:

  • Direct transfer ensures no handling of liquid waste
  • High-performance flow rate
  • Designed to minimize noise
  • Compact size
  • Maintenance-free technology

Membrane Dispenser

The EZ-Pak® Dispenser Curve revolutionizes filter handling for membrane filtration by combining the benefits of high-speed sterile membrane dispensing, no-touch operation and one-handed membrane transfer.

Make your membrane filtration sampling workflow more convenient:

  • Robust
  • Touch-free detection

S-Pak® Membrane Filters for Microbial Testing

S-Pak® membrane advantages

  • Individually packed
  • Sterile
  • Ready to use
  • Easy to use
  • No hydrophobic spots
  • No toxicity
  • Good bioburden recovery

Filter and packaging: easy to use and manipulate with gloved hands

Using sterile forceps, peel back the film and separate the blue paper from the membrane. Remove the membrane with the forceps.

Place the membrane and blue paper on a wet filtration support. When wet, the blue paper curls enabling you to easily remove it using forceps.

We offer a range of membranes to meet your specific filtration requirements.
